Influence of Social Support and Self-esteem on Elderly Welfare Facility Social Workers` Happiness£º Focusing on Mediating Effects of Job Stress

Abstract
This study substantially examined the influence of elderly welfare facilities` social workers` social support and self-esteem on happiness and the mediating effect of job stress in relation to these variables to enhance the happiness of social workers. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, 291 cases of survey forms collected from the social workers working for local elderly welfare facilities were used for the final analysis. The data were processed through SPSS WIN v21.0 for technical statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis and the methods of Baron and Kenny and the Sobel Test were implemented to verify the mediating effect. The findings of this study are as follows£ºfirst, social support and self-respect had a significant negative influence on job stress. Second, social support and self-respect had a significant positive influence on the happiness of social workers. Third, it was verified that job stress was a significant mediating variable in the relationship between social support and the happiness of social workers. Fourth, it was verified that job stress was a significant mediating variable in the relationship between self-esteem and the happiness of social workers. Based on these findings, this study discussed the policy and practical implications to enhance social support and self-esteem and to reduce job stress for the happiness of social workers.
